DASILVA FOR AEA COUNCIL

HOW DO I VOTE?

BALLOTS MAILED OUT: APRIL 22

DEADLINE TO REQUEST REPLACEMENT BALLOT: MAY 7

*NOTE* - THESE BALLOTS ARE MAILED TO THE ADDRESS LISTED ON THE AEA MEMBER PORTAL

DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF BALLOTS: MAY 19

WHY SHOULD I VOTE?

Actors' Equity Association is a representative democracy. I don't think representative democracies work as well as they should if only a tiny percentage of eligible voters actually vote.

If you're an actor or stage manager, you probably have an opinion on AEA. Probably, there are candidates running who you definitely agree with on issues. Probably, there are candidates running who you definitely 100% do NOT agree with. Take a little time, read up on the candidates, and try to vote for candidates who share your goal.

Hopefully, your goal is to build the most powerful union possible and secure kick-ass contracts.
WHY SHOULD I VOTE FOR YOU?

I believe member-to-member organizing—talking to each other about what we want out of our workplaces and our careers—is the key to building power.

We should constantly be working to build solidarity, so that when the time comes to use it, we are ready to do so. Instead of rushing to get on the same page for a contract negotiation or a dispute with an employer, we need to work to consistently to build relationships and trust with one another. This extends to our leadership, which can set the tone within Council.

I want to be part of building our collective power and using it to secure (and enforce!) STRONG CONTRACTS, increase AEA’s voice in important POLITICAL BATTLES (including increased arts funding at the state and federal level and universal health care), and help BUILD A THEATER INDUSTRY THAT IS LED BY WORKERS.

WHAT IS THIS "STAGE LEFT" THING?

Stage Left is a slate of progressively-minded folks running for AEA Council. I'm proud to join them. They are actors and stage managers from around the country who understand the challenges our industry is facing, and are ready to take them on from a worker-first perspective.
